More than 4,000 tickets for Madness' Montrose gig sold out within the first hour of sales

There has been an outbreak of Madness in Montrose as eager fans were quick off the mark today and bagged more than 4,000 tickets in the first hour of sales to see the ska legends play in the town.

Madness announced earlier this week that it will play at Montrose’s East Links on Sunday, July 5 - the band’s only Scottish show as part of its Grandslam Madness UK Tour.

Fans queued up this morning outside the Montrose Town Hall to secure their tickets, whilst others took to the phones and Internet to get tickets to the hottest show in town this summer.

Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. on today Friday (March 6) and just an hour later, at 11 a.m., more than 4,000 tickets had been sold.

Madness in Montrose is being organised by LCC Live and the Montrose Music Festival.

David Paton, Chairman of the Montrose Music Festival, said: “Ticket sales have been absolutely fantastic. To have sold so many tickets within such a short timescale exceeded our early expectations and is testament to the popularity of Madness.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with the response from fans and are working hard to make as many tickets available as possible. It’s going to be a great show!”

Tickets are still available priced from £35 and are available online at www.ticketline.co.uk; by ‘phone: 0844 888 9991; or from Montrose Town Hall on tomorrow (Saturday, March 7) between 10 a.m. and 12 noon.

The MoFest committee have assured us that there will still be a headline act on the Friday night for the festival from May 22 to 24, who will play at Montrose Town Hall.
