A busy commuter road in Montrose was closed off on Monday morning after a man threatened to jump off the Montrose New Bridge.
Police, a coastguard rescue team from Montrose and the Montrose RNLI lifeboat were called to the bridge at 7 a.m. and specialist officers were called in to try and talk the man down.
Just 30 minutes after closing the bridge, local officers managed to convince the man back down.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We were called to an incident on the New Bridge in Montrose at 7 a.m. on Monday morning.
“The road was immediately closed in both directions and a lengthy diversion was set up.
“It was a male who was in a position where he was threatening to jump and unfortunately we had to close the road to be able to hear and talk to him.
“Specialist officers were on their way at the time, but were not required in the end.”
