Marykirk is shining bright this December as a tree in the village has been decked with 10,000 Christmas lights.
The tree, which sits in Bob Officer’s garden in Marykirk and stands at 15 metres tall, has been adorned with 10,000 white LED bulbs.
Two years ago, he decorated the tree with 5,000 LED lights after a nine year break.
Bob said: “We hope it puts a smile on people’s faces as they drive by. You can see it from miles away.
“We had intended to put lights up on the tree last year but it didn’t work out. We bought more lights in the summer for it and ended up with 10,000.
“We started with about 500 lights in around 2000, which were just regular light bulbs, and then it grew to around 1300 over five or six years and then two years ago we came back with 5000.”
