FOLLOWING the success of last year’s event, the Marykirk raft race committee is preparing to hold another car treasure hunt on Sunday, May 8.
Starting and ending at Marykirk Village Hall, the race will cost £2 per person and begin at 2pm. There will be free refreshments in the hall afterwards.
Raffle tickets will be on sale for the raft race itself which will be held on May 15. Prizes include a brand new bike from Cycle World worth over £230, a DAB radio, a £50 dinner voucher, stainless steel gardening tools, dinner for two at an Indian restaurant and many more.
After the race is over there will be a full afternoon’s entertainment in Marykirk Park. This will include a dog show and music from nine local bands.
Last year more than 500 people attended the afternoon event and the organisers hope there will be even more this year.
An even wider range of stalls and amusements will be present including a huge mobile slide, hot food and a marquee bar for those in need of vital refreshments. Craft stalls will range from candles, hand-made jewellery, manicure products, clothing, kids’ stuff and many others.
Entries for the raft race itself are now coming into the committee but there is still room on the river for more, so please pick up an entry package from the Marykirk Hotel if you’re interested. Help is available with flotation drums if required.
There is also still space for more craft stalls in the marquee, so if you have a product you would like to show or sell, please contact Wilma Walker on 01674 840138.
