Marykirk WRI summer outing took the form of an evening visit to the Forfar Guide Dogs Centre for the Blind.
Members were welcomed by Margery and her guide dog, Mr Mouse.
Margery gave a heart-warming talk on her involvement with her guide dogs since 1981. She spoke most movingly of the bond of complete trust which developed between herself and the dogs. This enabled her to be more independent, and freedom to get out and about in her daily life and work. Margery ably answered the members’ many questions. A short DVD presentation showed the dog training methods at the centre, and afterwards members were able to view the dogs in their light and airy kennels.
A welcome cup of tea concluded the visit, and president Mrs Olive Henry thanked Margery and the volunteer ladies for a very pleasant and enjoyable evening.
