While The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the rest of the UK honoured the birth of a new princess, a Montrose couple were celebrating the arrival of their baby boy.
Little Mason was born at 3.17 am on Saturday, May 2 at Montrose Maternity to Lindsey (34) and Warren (42) Beedie.
He weighed 9lbs and 9oz.
Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born on the same day at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, at 8.34 am.
Mason is the Beedies’ second child as the couple have another son, Jackson (5).
The couple said: “It was a nice surprise to have Mason born on the same day as Princess Charlotte.”
The husband and wife believe Mason may have been the only baby born in Montrose on the same day as Princess Charlotte
They would like to thank the staff at Montrose Maternity unit.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is to send a specially crafted hat to mark the birth of Princess Charlotte. A one-off hat will also be sent to Prince George to celebrate him becoming a big brother.
A donation of £50,000 is to be split equally between Cash for Kids in Scotland and Turning Point Scotland in the princess’ name. A Tunnock’s teacake baby bib is also to form part of the gift to the newest member of the royal family, designed by Glasgow School of Art graduate Gillian Kyle.
