The campaign to develop an athletic arena for the whole of Angus is ticking along after it picked up over £500 in donations this week.
The Angus Athletics Arena campaign is striving to develop a £1 million facility on land adjacent to Arbroath High School which would create a sporting hub to be used by all of Angus.
Their first cheque came from TSB who have picked the campaign as their charity of the year and will be running a number of events in support of them.
Most recently was the ‘Hike It Or Bike It’ event during which members of staff took turns constantly cycling a static bike.
On Wednesday morning a cheque for £262.85 was presented by TSB Arbroath to campaign representatives.
Richard Blyth, bank manager at TSB Arbroath, said: “We’re delighted to support the Angus Athletics Arena as our chosen charity and glad to be able to present this cheque which we hope will be the first of many over the coming year.”
A spokesperson for Angus Athletics Arena added: “We would like to thank the TSB and all their local customers for their donations and effort they went to on the bike. Thank you!”
Later on Wednesday the Station Bar in Arbroath donated £250 courtesy of their patrons.
The next fundraiser for the campaign is a bake sale at TSB Arbroath on Thursday and Friday, October 27 and 28, from 10am-4pm. If anyone would like to donate their baked goods please drop them in to the branch on Thursday. If anyone would like to volunteer to help email firstname.lastname@example.org
