Montrose Academy pupil Amy Ferguson (13), has been declared the Dundee and Angus regional winner of the 2015 Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society’s Schools Poster Competition.
Amy’s winning artwork will be displayed at a special exhibition open to the public at the Museum of Childhood in Edinburgh from May 28 to August 31, with 13 other regional winners, the top three prize-winners and 67 shortlisted designs.
The competition attracted a total of over 5,300 eye-catching and innovative submissions from 271 classrooms in 171 schools.
Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society Kath M. Mainland said: “Amy’s design was chosen as the winner from all of the entries received from Dundee and Angus – it beautifully encapsulates the spirit of the Fringe and will be on display for everyone to see at the Museum of Childhood over the summer. I have no doubt Montrose Academy and Amy’s family and classmates are very proud of her.”
The top three winners of the competition will be announced at a ceremony and exhibition launch on May 27 at the Museum of Childhood. The winning design becomes the official poster for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and is used on mugs, t-shirts and other merchandise available at the Fringe shop and online.
