The special guest at the April meeting of the Montrose Accordion and Fiddle Club in the park Hotel was the Davie Stewart Trio.

Davie on lead accordion, Steven Carcary on second accordion and Malcolm Ross on drums, put on a terrific programme which kept the audience well entertained.

The local players were accordionists Arthur Wood, Cora Nicol, Kyle Innes, Margaret Pattullo, Alan Petrie and Jim Hood. Moothie players Ally Rennie and Bill MacDonald, Marshall Rae on the sticks and fiddler Dave Smith, who provide a feast of the best of Scottish Dance music.

During the evening, a presentation was made to former treasurer Bill Greig for his dedicated service in looking after the financial affairs of the club for the past 16 years.

The committee commissioned accordionist Steven Carcary to compose a tune for Bill and ‘Bill Greig’s March’ was the result which was suitably framed and presented to Bill by club president Jim Hood along with CD’s of the composition and also a certificate of life membership.

Sadly, the Review learned that Bill died last Friday (April 4) from a heart attack.
