MONTROSE Royal Artillery Army Cadet Force held its annual Troop Presentation night on Thursday in the Town Hall.
Cadet Commandant Angus & Dundee Battalion ACF Colonel Andrew Cassidy was the inspecting officer, with Colonel Kenny Simpson MBE TD, Honorary Colonel of the Battalion.
Bdr Nathan Woods welcomed the principal guest and the large gathering of parents and friends. He called on Duty NCO Bdr Chris Menmuir to parade the Troop.
The Cadets were inspected for turnout in training dress and their ability at foot and rifle drill. Training will continue at Montrose on selected dates and during Company Training weekends at Buddon CTC.
Troop Commander Major Les Henderson reviewed the year, one of the highlights of which was the Cadets participating in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations at Glamis and the annual camp at Altcar, Southport. He also spoke about this year’s plans including the forthcoming Battalion Exercise in Cyprus, the many Scottish and National Sports Championships and the camp, again at Altcar.

Five new members also received certificates: James Greenhill, Steven Taylor, Steven Livingstone, Cameron Peggie and David Craig.

Staff Sergeant Dawn Hendry has visited the Troop to train and assess Cadets who wish to be considered for the A Company Drill Team for the Angus & Dundee Bn Drill Competition at Annual Camp.
Bdrs Morgan Woods and Dominic Coull will be at Buddon CTC during the school holidays to take part in a 3 Star Cadre, covering drill and turnout, skill at arms, map & compass and fieldcraft. They will spend three days in the field being assessed on their knowledge of patrolling, section formation and carrying out section attacks and ambushes, as well as having to look after themselves in the field.
