A doctors practice in Montrose will be doing things a little bit differently from next month.
Instead of calling up on a morning for an appointment that day, patients at Annat Bank Practice will be able to pop into a ‘sit and wait’ drop in session five days a week.
As of Monday, April 20, patients can turn up at the practice based in the Links Health Centre, on Frank Wood Way, between 8.15 and 10.30 a.m. each morning Monday to Friday where they will be checked in and seen by the next available GP.
There will be no need to telephone in advance, however, those who require a same-day appointment after 10.30 a.m. should telephone the practice.
Annat Bank is the first doctors’ surgery in Montrose to create drop in sessions and will be trialling the scheme for six months.
Wendy Loudon, practice manager, explained Annat Bank felt the need to introduce the system to ensure all patients who need to be seen on a given day when the practice is open can be .
GP at the practice Dr Graham Kramer said: “The changing demands and expectations on General Practice create many challenges for all of us whether we provide or receive healthcare.
“Meeting these challenges will require us to explore new ways of working together to ensure everyone has fair, equal and timely access to see a health professional that is appropriate to their needs whilst maintaining the quality of these contacts.
“We are looking to explore new ways of working to help maintain a healthy, thriving practice within a healthy, thriving community.”
The surgery is open between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Annat Bank will also be offering evening appointments every Tuesday from 6 to 7.15 p.m. to see a nurse or GP. These can be booked up to one month in advance.
