Montrose nursery manager facing a misconduct probe

An Angus nursery manager is facing a misconduct probe after allegedly making a comment about a child in her care.

Dianne Brown is set to appear before a Scottish Social Services Council conduct committee later this month to face accusations of incidents that are alleged to have taken place in May 2014.

Brown is said to have been the manager of the Busy Bee Nursery in Montrose when the alleged incidents took place.

She is alleged to have stated “the child looks a bit spastic in that photo” when shown a picture of one of the youngsters from the Busy Bee Nursery on May 22, 2014.

Then, eight days later on May 30, she is said to have strapped a four-year-old child into a buggy in the baby room at the facility in a bid to manage their “challenging behaviour.”

Brown is then alleged to have said “oh look, even the babies are laughing at you” while the child was strapped into the buggy - before apparently stating: “If you’re going to act like a baby I’ll treat you like a baby.”

The case will be heard at the Social Services Council headquarters in Dundee.
