MONTROSE Pictures, a company ridiculed by American developer Donald Trump, has had the last laugh with a major award at a US film festival for its film ‘You’ve Been Trumped’.
The small-budget movie company scooped the Special Jury Prize at Michael Moore’s Traverse City Film Festival.
During the making of the film, which has been shown to great acclaim, director Anthony Baxter and producer Richard Phinney were arrested by police during filming at the Menie Estate, where Donald Trump’s company is building houses and a golf course.
All charges against the pair were later dropped.
The film has won prizes at festivals around the world since it received its premiere in Toronto earlier this year.
It was also very popular in Aberdeen, and its run there had to be extended because of public interest.
But the developer’s company, Trump International, has rubbished the film, declaring that Mr Baxter lacked credibility, professionalism and integrity.
