Montrose Rugby launched their season last weekend, having been selected as one of the RBS RugbyForce clubs for 2013. During the day, the members were joined by Scotland caps Chris Paterson and Matt Scott, as well as Scotland Sevens players Michael Fedo and Chris Deans.
The RBS Six Nations Trophy was flown up from London for the event and Sir Moir Lockhead, Chairman of the Scottish Rugby Union also attended.
On Sunday, training started for Micros, Minis and S1/2 while the U16s and U18s had a training camp at Lathallan School, Johnshaven.
Caroline Campbell, club secretary and coach said “We have been delighted by the support from RBS RugbyForce. It has been a great day and we have welcomed families from across Angus to Union Park.
Chris, Matt and the sevens players joined in with games, provided signatures and there were photo opportunities with the players and the Six Nations trophy. The club really appreciates Sir Moir coming and the other assistance from Scottish Rugby.
“Being selected as one of the RBS RugbyForce clubs has been fantastic recognition for all of our volunteers that have helped us grow Montrose Rugby over recent years. As we head into the new season, our junior section will have squads for boys and girls from Primary 1 to Under 18.”
New members are very welcome. Training for Micros and Minis (P1 to P7) is on Sunday at 10 a.m., S1/2, U16 and U18 train on Tuesdays at 6.15 p.m. and girls’ rugby is on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. For more information, please contact Caroline on 07932 045480 or email@example.com
