Montrose singer/songwriter Gary Anderson will be among a host of performers at Europe’s largest winter fringe festival.
Gary, who is well-known on the Angus circuit and far beyond, has been invited to play at Big Burns Supper (BBS) in Dumfries, one of Scotland’s first major events of 2015.
Big Burns Supper (BBS) 2015 from January 23 to 31 is a nine-day festival of contemporary and traditional culture and a huge public celebration of the birthday of Scotland’s national Bard, Robert Burns.
BBS is also part of Scotland’s Winter Festivals - a programme of events managed by EventScotland on behalf of the Scottish Government.
Gary will take to the stage at the Spiegeltent – the BBS main venue, which is a 500-capacity 1930s-style mirror-filled marquee – on Thursday, January 29, at 5 p.m.
Gary said: “It is a massive honour for me to be chosen as an emerging artist to appear in the magical Spiegeltent at The Big Burns Supper Festival and I am tremendously proud to be able to showcase my music at such a prestigious event.”
Graham Main, BBS Festival artistic director, said: “Big Burns Supper is an amazingly colourful and fun festival – and we are really looking forward to welcoming Gary to take centre stage at our main venue.
“Gary mixes his own original material with folk, rock and country covers, all stripped down to great effect using only his voice and a guitar. In short – it’ll be great, so come and join us in Dumfries.”
Having grown up in Montrose Gary has played with various bands around the area since he was 16.
He also supplies vocals and guitar to Rock band F’n’3Gs and mandolin, acoustic guitar and backing vocals with Colin Clyne and The Carrons.
