Local man Ian McDougall, accompanied by three friends - Stuart Arbuckle, Colleen Kaiver and Lewis Burns - undertook a 300-foot abseil down the Red Head sea cliffs, just north of Auchmithie.

The adrenaline-fuelled event was in aid of Alzheimer’s Scotland, a cause for which Ian and his friends feel strongly.

He said: “We believe this terrible illness will touch most families at some point. Our abseil was done to raise public awareness and also boost funds for the charity. We have raised nearly £700, with more money still to come in.”

Ian plans to undertake an abseil annually and support a different charity every year.
