People in Montrose have had their say on the different types of shops they would love to see in the town’s high street.
With more and more shops shutting down in Montrose it’s no surprise that townsfolk have lots of opinions over what should fill the vacant spaces.
We asked you on Facebook and Twitter what shops you would you love to see in the town’s main shopping thoroughfare.
The post on Facebook drew a great response from readers who suggested a variety of stores and restaurants.
Out of all of the ideas posted, the most popular suggestion seemed to be fast food restaurant McDonald’s.
Several suggestions were made for the same stores. Among the most popular suggestions were more fashion focused clothes shops for both men and women, including Primark, Matalan and TK Maxx.
Home and food shops, such as Marks and Spencer, were also among the popular suggestions.
The recent closure of the sports shop Inter Sport, on Murray Street, has disappointed some residents. Charlie Robb said the town needs “a decent sports shop!”
With town’s growing musical scene and a large number of local bands playing shows in and around the area, as well as the growth of MoFest, there were calls for a music shop to open. Graeme Thomson commented: “There are 300 bands in the town and loads more musicians, a music shop is definitely needed.”
