MSP supports sight access

NIGEL Don, MSP for North Angus and Mearns, has pledged his support for better access for people who are blind and partially sighted.

The MSP sponsored an event on behalf of Guide Dogs Scotland at Holyrood, where MSPs met guide dog owners, dogs and pups and tried blindfolded walks with a guide dog and long canes.

Mr Don said: “I have a Guide Dogs Scotland Training Centre in my constituency, in Forfar, and I have long been a supporter of the organisation’s campaigns.

“The election of Dennis Robertson as SNP MSP for West Aberdeenshire, the parliament’s first blind MSP, is an important step towards securing better access and services for blind and partially-sighted people.

Jane Horsburgh, Guide Dogs Scotland’s public policy manager added: “The event was a great opportunity to brief MSPs about Guide Dogs’ work to provide guide dog and other mobility services, and to campaign for better access for blind and partially sighted people.”
