A murder investigation has been launched after the death of a 25-year-old Tayside woman in Glasgow yesterday.

At around 5.05pm on Wednesday, December 30, police officers attended at a flat in Minto Street, Govan, and discovered the body of Katy Rourke, from Broughty Ferry.

Following a post mortem examination, the death is being treated as murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Allan Burton said: “Officers have been conducting door-to-door enquiries and we are gathering and reviewing CCTV footage to gain additional information as part of this ongoing investigation.

“A young woman has lost her life and significant efforts are being made to locate the person responsible.

“If anyone has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please do pass it on to police.

“Any small piece of information could prove vital in this murder inquiry.”

Relatives are aware and a report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and ask for officers from the Major Investigation Team at Govan.
