A plot of land in Montrose beside the town’s adult resource centre is to be redeveloped into affordable housing.
Angus councillors approved the plan to turn the site adjacent to the Rosehill Adult Resource Centre, Forties Road, into up to 12 affordable houses, which are expected to cost £113,000 each.
The properties would be available to existing tenants on the common housing register.
Montrose Lib Dem councillor David May said: “I am delighted to support the recommendation that the site next to the Rosehill Adult Resource Centre In Montrose be redeveloped as affordable housing.
“Montrose like much of the rest of Angus has a shortage of affordable housing and by backing this report it means that up to 12 affordable houses for rent can be built on this site and this will help to lessen the shortage.
“Lack of affordable housing has been an issue raised with me by several residents in the town, so anything that can be done to have more of this type of housing is to be welcomed.”
