New bishop called

ROBERT Stronach has been called to serve as bishop in the Montrose branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Originally from Motherwell, Mr Stronach was baptised at the age of eight and has served in many callings throughout his membership of the church, including a previous term as bishop.

He is married to Helen and the couple have six children and five grandchildren.

As bishop he is responsible for the spiritual and temporal welfare of the church members not only in Montrose but in the surrounding areas including Arbroath, Forfar and Brechin.

With no paid clergy in the church, Bishop Stronach will continue to work in full-time employment as a laundry van driver for Angus Council.

He said: “I feel honoured to be called again to serve as bishop and I am looking forward to doing whatever I can to support the people who work tirelessly to bless the lives of others”.

Bishop Stronach replaces Bishop Gordon Crawford who served the church for three years.
