CONSTABLE Alistair Hutchison will become an increasingly familiar face to Montrose community groups and organisations following his appointment as the town and district’s community liaison officer.

He is the first of two new community liaisons for the Montrose area who will serve in the focused role over the next two years.

Educated at Ashby Grammar School and Mearns Academy, Constable Hutchison joined the police 11 years ago and since then has worked mainly as a beat constable across the Angus area. He has also enjoyed a period of secondment to the road policing unit and, during the last six years on the beat in Montrose, has acted as a lead and tutor constable.

He said: “I’m currently meeting with local youth workers, community councils and residents’ associations. I volunteered for the post because of my service in Montrose and existing links with the community but I’m looking forward to meeting more of a cross-section and helping where I can.”
