No trains were running at Montrose Train Station on Sunday due to engineering works on the line

Due to engineering works on Sunday (February 8), the trainline between Aberdeen and Dundee was closed, affecting Montrose Train Station.

A “disappointed” member of the public got in touch with us to say that trains were not working at the town’s station on Sunday and that the bridge over the railway track was closed.

A spokeswoman for ScotRail said: “Due to engineering works yesterday, the line was closed between Aberdeen and Dundee.

Replacement buses were running in both directions and stopped at all stations on the line.

“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by circumstances outwith our control.”

Replacement buses were in operation in both directions and stopped at all intermediate stations.

As the replacement bus left from the front of Montrose Train Station, a sign was put up asking customers not to cross the bridge at the station as no trains were running.
