One second is enough for Alistair!

The rallying Inglis family from Montrose came back from Machrihanish, Campbeltown, justifiably delighted with their weekend’s work.

Alistair and Colin Inglis were competing in their Lotus Exige rally car in the fourth round of the Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship (STRC).

There were 12 stages over the Saturday and Sunday, eight stages on Saturday and four on Sunday. After day one Alistair and Colin were second overall, six seconds off fGary and Gordon Adam in their Ford Escort Mark II.

Day two began badly with Alistair losing a further six seconds to the Adam brothers.

In the next two stages Alistair made up the deficit to the Adams so they went into the final stage in a dead heat.

A fantastic drive secured first place by the smallest margin possible, a brilliant result and hopefully a start to a successful spell in the Lotus.

Also competing was Greg Inglis, in a Citroen Saxo. He started 62nd and finished 29th overall and 5th in his class.

The drivers thank sponsor Duthies of Montrose.

The next event is the Tyneside Stages on August 2, then the Solway Coast rally on August 8.
