A dynamic new membership association has been formed to help Dundee and Angus’s visitor accommodation providers to work together.

The new organisation, Dundee and Angus Visitor Accommodation Association (DAVAA), is preparing for its formal launch at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel next Thursday, April 28.

DAVAA will be funded by its members, managed by its members and always run for the benefit of its members. The free, lunchtime, launch event at Carnoustie will see DAVAA’s chairman outline the Association’s objectives and a great speaker has been organised to help celebrate the new venture. Willie Cameron has been a leading figure in many innovative collaborations between accommodation providers and other tourism businesses in and around Loch Ness that have transformed that area’s profile and its prospects.

DAVAA’s chairman, Richard Ellison, general manager of the Double Tree by Hilton Dundee, said: “With Angus and Dundee’s appeal as an international tourist destination set to get its biggest ever boost when the V & A opens, there has never been a better time for the region’s accommodation providers to come together to share ideas, speak with a single voice and learn from the best. The businesses that have already committed to DAVAA have shown a real desire to make this new venture a great success and I am confident that the rest of the sector will share their passion and support DAVAA.”

Gordon MacKintosh, general manager of the Carnoustie Golf Hotel, and vice-chairman of DAVAA, said: “We are really excited to be launching DAVAA. We want it to be a forum where serious business and fun come together and that is exactly what our guests will experience when they join us at the launch event. We have a great speaker, who will inspire everyone there with a vision about what is possible when businesses come together for a common purpose.”
