Davina Farquharson welcomed fifteen members and friends to our Christmas celebration held at Kirriemuir golf club on 13th December.After our meal the competition of best wrapped parcel was kindly judged by Elma Dickens of Northmuir Institute who were also having their Christmas meeting. Mairi announced the results - 1st Mairi Alexander; 2nd Kathleen Melville; 3rd Davina Farquharson. The parcels were then distributed according to raffle tickets chosen by each person on arrival.Davina gave a vote of thanks to the Golf Club staff for providing an immensely enjoyable meal and to Mary Donnelly for arranging the event. She also took the opportunity to announce that member Sylvia Kirby has accepted the post of secretary to Angus Federation SWI and Mairi Alexander as secretary to Homeskills and Handcrafts. Our next meeting on 10th January is a speaker from the Food Bank/ Clothing Hub at Kirriemuir. She reminded members of the competitions on the 10th before ending the meeting wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and invited everyone to join her in the song.

Kirriemuir SWI

The December meeting of Kirriemuir SWI was a Christmas meal at the home of Chris Horrocks, our secretary. Members enjoyed a delicious festive lunch catered by Alison Beattie. Because we were in someone’s home, it was really good fun and a very relaxed afternoon.

A Christmas quiz was won by Ruth Fraser and Pat Paterson. President Dianne Stout thanked Chris for her hospitality and wished everyone a safe journey home and a happy Christmas. She reminded members that the January meeting is to be a bingo afternoon and that friends will be welcome.

St Vigeans

Owing to the weather conditions on Monday 12 December, St Vigeans SWI had to postpone the visit of SWI members from local institutes to eagerly hear Joe Wishart promote his book about his lifetime of involvement in entertainment locally.
