Police wish you happy MoFest

Police Scotland welcome you to MoFest!

They have issued the following statement: Mofest will be getting underway in Montrose soon, with the opening headline act ASH rocking at Montrose Town Hall tonight, on a weekend where the Angus town will play host to around 200 gigs across 25 different venues.

The event, which takes place today through until Sunday (May 24), is expected to attract around twelve thousand people to Montrose and Police Scotland hope they enjoy what is sure to be an excellent event.

Local Inspector Ally Robertson said his officers will be providing a high visibility presence throughout the town to ensure that everyone has a great time and that they do so safely and responsibly.

He said: “Mofest is a fantastic event for the town and it has always been very well supported by large numbers of people focused on enjoying themselves and making the most of the live bands on offer.

“Our officers will be engaging with people, so please take time to speak with them. They will be out and about on patrol, but also in and around the events where they will continue to work closely with event organisers, licensees and their staff.

“As with any large event, we might see a small minority of individuals become involved in anti-social or criminal behaviour, however our officers will take appropriate action to deal with those who choose to act in this way .

“To help you to keep safe while out and about during this busy event, we would advise that you keep together with friends and be sensible about how much alcohol you drink. Look after bags and valuables and make sure your mobile phone is fully charged before going out. It is also worth remembering to make sure that you have enough money at the end of the night if you need to pay for your journey home.

“This is an exciting festival of live music and above all, we ask visitors to the area and residents alike to support us in making this a safe and enjoyable weekend for everyone.”
