MP lucky in Bill ballot

ANGUS MP Mike Weir has come 10th in the ballot of MPs to introduce a Private Members’ Bill in the current session of Parliament. The high placing means any bill he introduces may reach the stage of being debated in the House of Commons.

Mr Weir said: “I have a few ideas of possible bills in the areas of employment rights and energy, but I will consult with colleagues to decide what to bring forward. Coming so high in the list gives a good chance that the bill will be debated in the Commons, but that depends on the nature and controversy of bills ahead of it in the queue. Bills will only make progress if support can be achieved across the house.”
