MSP welcomes tax U-turn

Nigel Don MSP has welcomed the news that Iain Duncan Smith, secretary for work and pensions, has done a U-turn; announcing exemptions to the ‘bedroom tax’ for military families, foster carers and disabled children.

He said: “Not often do we hear good news from Tories but this I’ll happily take. I hope Westminster realises the effect this tax will have on families, and abandon it in full.”

He said, overall, the ‘bedroom tax’ will push half a million more children into poverty.
