The Board of Trustees and Governors of Dorward House were delighted by the excellent Care Inspectorate Report.

The report acknowledges the very high standard of care provided by management and staff. The board congratulated staff who achieved Scottish Vocational Qualifications in Health and Social Care for Adults. Chair of Trustees, Mrs Hester Howie, said: “We are very proud of our staff group.”

Three social care officers Win Till, Jenny Campbell and Alice Rhynas have been successful at SVQ level 2; two senior social care officers, Pamela

Paton and Natasha Simpson, at SVQ level 3 and Manager, Debbie Philips was successful at Level 4 and is now undertaking her SVQ 4 in Management/Care. Within Dorward House there are 29 care staff who have achieved SVQs at appropriate levels and a further six are undertaking SVQs at present.

All teams within the House, care, domestic and catering undertake ongoing training to ensure the residents receive a safe and enjoyable standard of care. This was demonstrated at the recent Welcome Summer Party, which was a great success and raised money for Alzheimer’s Scotland Action on Dementia.
