Promote sport and healthy living

A COUNTY-WIDE Project aimed at local sports clubs and dance activities will be delivered by Angus Council next month as part of the national Games for Scotland programme.

The scheme aims to inspire, motivate, engage and engender pride in the people of Scotland in the run-up to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Funded jointly by EventScotland and the council, the Angus Active Legacy programme will run across the county until October 27.

It will encompass a variety of activities and will offer secondary pupils the opportunity to train as dance leaders and eventually run dance classes; offer a programme of taster sessions in dance at all Angus primary schools to encourage participation in dance and promote an active and healthy lifestyle; provide free dance sessions across every Angus burgh during the October school holidays for primary aged children; develop and produce marketing materials to promote local Angus Club Excellence (ACE) accredited sports clubs and provide these clubs the chance to purchase additional sports equipment to help increase their capacity.
