Concern about cuts to services for the elderly in Edzell, Montrose, Arbroath, Brechin, Arbirlot, Friockheim, Forfar, and throughout Angus, has prompted a protest against the move which has been planned for Thursday (October 22) .

Dave Coull (74), originally from Ferryden and a resident of Inglis Court sheltered housing in Edzell, said: “We realise it’s very short notice, and we’re well aware many of those most affected have mobility problems, but some of us feel that, if even a few of us can get along to protest in Forfar today that will help show our determination to oppose these cuts.”

Those interested in joining the protest are asked to meet up from 1.30pm onwards, outside the Council Chamber, the Town Buildings, at The Cross in Forfar, ahead of the 2pm meeting of the full council.
