MONTROSE Academy S3 pupils have been voting for their favourite novel in this year’s Angus Book Award competition.

The shortlist is ‘When I was Joe’ by Karen David, ‘Wasted’ by Nicola Morgan, ‘Luke and Jon’ by Robert Williams and ‘Auslander’ by Paul Dowdsworth.

The event aims to promote reading for enjoyment among teenagers throughout Angus.

It also tries to give both committed and less enthusiastic readers the chance to engage with new and accessible books.

Over the course of the year pupils have the opportunity to make films about the books, compete in art and book review competitions and share their views on the books.

The awards ceremony is to held in Arbroath High School on May 17.
