The reconstructed berth at east end of the North Quay received its first visitor on Saturday (October 11) with the arrival of the Danish owned anchor handling vessel Maersk Lifter.

Built at Stralsund on Germany’s Baltic coast in 2009, she is 90 metres in length and 6,800 tons gross.

Operated by the Maersk company of Copenhagen, she is registered at Skagen at the very north of Denmark near to The Skaw, a familiar turning point for vessels navigating through the Skagerrak and the Kattegat to and from the Baltic and familiar to Montrose mariners of the sailing ship era.
