THE A937 Montrose to Laurencekirk road has been closed by police at Marykirk due to localised flooding.
It is understood that stretches of the B974 between Marykirk and the A90 have also been badly affected. Tayside Police have appealed to motorists to consider whether their journey is immediately necessary and, when out, to try to avoid the minor roads wherever possible.
The heavy overnight rain has resulted in challenging driving conditions and a number of roads across the region, particularly rural roads, are badly affected by surface and standing water. Localised flooding is being experienced in many parts of Angus in particular, including areas around Brechin, Wellbank, Emmock, Kellas, Gagie and Tealing.
Angus Council and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency are closely monitoring river levels across the area and a warning is currently in place for the Esk at Bridge of Dun.
