IN AUGUST Mr Norman Heath visited St Cyrus and Montrose to do some genealogical research on the Duthie and Johnston families.
Now back in Australia, he has e-mailed the Review in the hope that our readers can fill in some gaps in his research.
Mr Heath wrote: “My grandmother, Jane Duthie, was born in St Cyrus in 1877 to Alexander Duthie and Mary Duthie, nee Johnston.
“She married William Nimmo Heath in the church in St Cyrus on February 23, 1900, and I understand qualified for the dowry as the tallest bride that year. William and Jane lived in Edinburgh and had a family of five boys, my father Daniel being the second eldest. Jane Heath spent her last years in Glenprosen and died there on October 27, 1948.”
Mr Heath has been in touch with Joann Beattie, Johnshaven, who is a distant relation on the Johnston side of the family and who has given him valuable information there.
He continued: “I would like to track down any living relatives of Alexander and Mary who may still be in the St Cyrus or Montrose area and who might wish to make contact with me.
“I live in Perth, Western Australia and can be contacted either through my e-mail, email@example.com or by ‘phone on 08 9434 9417.
