After a two-year absence from Angus County’s classical calendar, Glamis Prom will return to Glamis Castle, home to the Earl and Countess of Strathmore.
Glamis Proms Ltd., in association with PDF Productions and Apex Acoustics, promise a spectacular evening of enchanting music featuring one of the country’s finest orchestras, along with, as always, some of the music world’s most celebrated performers.
Set against the romantic backdrop of Glamis Castle, music lovers can purchase gazebo pitches and will be permitted to bring their own picnics to enjoy some al fresco food and drink.
Downpours in some years have failed to dampen concert-goers’ enjoyment, as seasoned attendees take a good supply of umbrellas.
Concert goers will be encouraged to attend in their finery and really ramp up the glamour and sense of occasion.
Peter Ferguson, producer, Glamis Proms Ltd/PDF Productions, said: “We are delighted to bring this glamorous and exciting event back to Glamis Castle. It’s always a wonderful show and there was such an appetite from the public to have it back. This year will be bigger and better than ever and we look forward to announcing our show stopping headline artist soon”
The announcement will be welcome news to music aficionados from the local community and surrounding areas that were left disappointed when the popular event was cancelled in 2013.
The late Sir James Cayzer. Kinpurnie Castle, was a great supporter of the Glamis event.
Each year he would find a virtually unknown Strauss piece which the orchestra would see for the first time on the afternoon of the concert, rehearse - and play impeccably.
Glamis Proms will take place on Saturday 18 July, 2015.
Orchestra and headline artist are expected to be announced early 2015
Tickets will be on sale from January 5, 2015.
