The final school bell rang for Rosemount Primary School’s headteacher at the end of the autumn term.
Mary Fox retired from the school in Hillside after spending the last 12 years of her teaching career at Rosemount.
Mrs Fox has enjoyed a varied teaching career within Angus.
She started in education at Muirfield Primary School Arbroath in 1979.
After a short break to have her family, she went on to teach in a number of the Arbroath schools, including returning to Muirfield before securing the post of assistant headteacher at Timmergreens Primary School in January 1996.
In September 1997, she joined Angus Council’s Education Development Service and led the authority’s Early Intervention project.
She continued in this role until she was appointed acting headteacher at Barry Primary school in November 2002.
Mrs Fox remained at Barry until she moved to Rosemount Primary in August 2004.
She said that during her career she has particularly enjoyed the privilege of working with many supportive colleagues, parents and last but not least the children.
She added: “Working in a school is challenging with no two days being the same.
“A simple comment from a child is often what brightens up the day and makes the hard work so worthwhile.”
A special presentation was held at an assembly in school on Friday (September 30).
Mrs Fox now looks forward to spending more quality time with her family and pursuing her other interests and hobbies.
