Police in Montrose are appealing for information regarding the whereabouts of a man who seriously assaulted another man outside a takeaway in the town.

Officers in Montrose are appealing for information that will assist them in identifying the suspect of a “serious assault” at Jay’s Fast Food take away, Castle Place, Montrose, on Saturday, May 23.

The incident happened the second day of Montrose Music Festival.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The incident occurred around 9.30pm whereby a man was assaulted by an unknown male accompanied by three or four other males.

“The suspect is described as being in his early 20s with longer than average dark hair, held by a black elastic head band.

“He is of slim build and was wearing a long sleeved purple shirt and blue jeans.

He added: “It is believed that the suspect and his associates reside outwith Montrose.

“If you know this male or have any information that would assist in identifying him, please speak to a local officer or contact Police Scotland.”
