The Song Shop pantomime this year, perennial favourite ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’, is currently wowing audiences at Montrose Town Hall.
The opening night was on Tuesday, December 2 and the popular panto runs until this Saturday, December 6.
The classic story is brought to life in traditional fashion, with humour for adults and children. It has audience participation in abundance, an escaped gorilla, and a slapstick cooking scene, in which the audience are invited to help with the baking of a cake for Snow White’s birthday! With songs old and new, to cater for a wide range of tastes, the audiences are enjoying a great night’s entertainment.
The Wicked Queen Asphyxia cannot bear for anyone to be more attractive than she is, and when her Magic Mirror announces that Snow White is more beautiful than her, she hires three villains - Slick, Sly and Shifty - to get rid of her. They follow Snow White into the forest but she manages to escape and find refuge in the home of the Seven Dwarves, from where she hopes to be rescued.
Gertrude Greenfly, the local greengrocer, and Snow White’s guardian, sets out to find Snow White. She is assisted by her shop employees, Jimmy Jester and Marsha Mellow. Also in hot pursuit are Prince Sebastian and his valet Marcus.
But will they get to Snow White before the Wicked Queen does? Can Gertrude, Marsha and Jimmy, along with the help of Prince Sebastian and his valet Marcus, reach Snow White before the wicked Queen Asphyxia?
Come along and hiss and boo the baddies, cheer for our heroes and join in the community singing. Not to be missed.
With only a few tickets remaining for the Saturday matinee, and tickets for other performances selling fast, it is advisable to book tickets in advance, either from Henry Hogg newsagents or from The Song Shop on 01674 673236.
