The chairman of St Cyrus Gala Day says this year’s event was a success, but has raised concerns that next’s event may not go ahead.

Chairman of the gala Grant Ritchie is calling for people to come forward and join the committee.

He has expressed concern that if numbers do not increase, the gala may not go ahead next year.

He said: “St Cyrus Gala Day was well attended this year and even though the weather tried its best to test the attendees’ staying power I am delighted to say that Mother Nature never anticipated the good spirit of the local people.

“Although numbers were a little down on last year, early reports suggest it was successful again.

“My thanks to all who made the day what it was but especially my fellow committee members who worked very hard as usual.

“Our committee of four members is too small to sustain the size of gala we currently run.

“We need another four to eight hands-on members to delegate certain tasks to in the run up to and during the gala.

“Please make yourselves known to me as soon as possible to ensure the confirmation of St Cyrus Gala Day 2015.

“If you had a stall you can send donations to Jackie or any committee member to ensure the longevity of the St Cyrus Gala.”

He continued: “I would like to thank all those volunteers who assisted with erecting tents, as well as those who gave up their time to man the inflatables and other attractions.

“This was the first year of the water walkers and they proved to be a popular attraction with more than 100 turns on the balls in total.

“Thanks to John Harrison from Morphie Farms for his great efforts with the straw bales and water and to Ross Agri Services Ltd for their help with the bunting and car parking. Without the help of these local companies things would not run as smoothly as they do.

“As always thanks to Gavin
