MONTROSE teenagers Robert Guthrie and Emily Wood have been working hard to put together a variety show to raise as much money as they can for Cancer Research UK.

Robert (17), who is Montrose Academy’s depute head boy, and former Rose Queen Emily (18) got together last year to discuss the idea which they wanted to organise and stage themselves. They then embarked on arranging poster design, ticket printing, hall booking, contacting sound and lighting experts, finding a stage manager, front of house staff and a wealth of local talent to put together the best show possible.

Local businesses have been supportive in their gifts of raffle prizes and donations and Emily and Robert are now appealing the public to buy a ticket for their show which is this Friday at 7pm in the town hall.

Robert said: “We want to thank everybody who has donated or bought a ticket already. We’d like to pack the Town Hall and make as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause. Cancer affects so many people’s lives that it’s really up to all of us to do what we can to raise money to fund research which will hopefully one day lead to a cure for this disease”.

Tickets are available from Robert Ritchie HiFi on Murray Street or from Emily on 01674 673646.
