With school holidays looming, wondering how to keep the children and grandchildren happy? Worry no more.
During the first week of the school holidays - Monday, July 1 to Sunday, July 7 - Montrose Old & St Andrew’s Church will once again run its very successful Holiday Club and Summer Mission. Over the last few months, work has been going on behind the scenes making arrangements and preparing props for the event.
This year’s Holiday Club is ‘Pyramid Rock’, for primary school aged children, and ‘Rocky Rascals’ for nursery children aged three years and over. The children will spend the week in the church hall which will be transformed into a desert - with its very own pyramid. ‘Pyramid Rock’ focuses on the story, character and experiences of Joseph and every day there will be a surprise visitor from Biblical times to help tell the story of Joseph.
In the gallery, which has toddler toys for children who are too young to attend the holiday club, there will be an opportunity for parents, grandparents and friends to enjoy a tea and coffee while getting a bird’s eye-view of the activities and fun going on in the hall below. There will also be opportunities for the whole family to join in at events during the week such as the Family Fun Night, the Pancake Tea Party and the fun afternoon with games/races and barbecue down near the beach pavilion, weather permitting, on Saturday, July 6.
A preview of the activities on offer, which include singing and games, will be revealed at the 11am service in Old & St Andrew’s on Sunday, June 30 when the congregation and young people will be given an idea of the fun ahead.
Registration forms have been distributed to all primary schools within the Montrose area and these can also be completed online at www.oldandstandrews.com. Those who have not yet returned a form can also register in the church hall at 10.30am on any day during the Mission.
Events will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm for primary age children and 10.30am to 11.30am for nursery age children on Monday, July 1 to Friday, July 5.
