THIS year’s summer mission at Old and St Andrew’s Church, Montrose, a Jungle Jamboree holiday club for local Primary School children and a Teeny Trekkers holiday club for pre-school children aged three to five, will see the children involved in helping the Watt family who find themselves stranded in the jungle after a plane crash.

A flavour of the activities on offer, which will include singing and games, will be revealed at the 11am service in Old and St Andrew’s on Sunday when the youngsters will be given an idea of the tasks ahead of them.

The holiday club itself will take place in Old and St Andrew’s Church Hall each weekday from July 4 to 8 between 10.30 and 11.30am for the pre-school children and 10.30 and 12.30pm for primary-age youngsters.

There will be a games afternoon on Tuesday.

The week’s events are not just limited to the youngsters, however, with a Family Fun Night on Wednesday evening, a Pancake Tea Party on Thursday afternoon and a Family Treasure Hunt on Friday evening, followed by a barbecue for participants and their families at the beach on Saturday afternoon; in the church hall in the event of inclement weather.

Relatives and friends are also welcome to come along for a cuppa and have the chance to get a bird’s eye view from the gallery in the halls during the week. There will be a further opportunity to hear about the holiday club activities at the morning service in the church on Sunday, July 10. After the service there will be a soup and sandwich lunch in the Hall for the participants, parents, helpers and members of the congregation.

Children who have not yet returned a form can still register to take part by going to the church hall for 10.30am any morning during the mission.
