Sweeping aside musical boundaries

AUSTRALIAN entertainers, Cloudstreet, are the guests at Montrose Folk Club in the Links Hotel, Mid Links, Montrose next Tuesday evening at 8 pm.

Cloudstreet present high-quality concert performances of new Australian Folk music. Incorporating traditional and contemporary influences from both Australia and the British Isles, their music is engaging, exciting and fun.

The trademark of Cloudstreet is their innovative use of two-part vocal harmony, supported by driving guitar, soaring wooden flute, along with concertina and percussion.

Cloudstreet are Nicole Murray, who was born in Melbourne, south Australia, and John Thompson from Brisbane, Queensland. Since turning professional in 2003, Cloudstreet have built a devoted following, both in their native Australia and also in the UK. They have undertaken seven lengthy tours of the UK since 2003.

Cloudstreet sweep aside musical boundaries and sing their hearts out! They take the traditional folk song, shake it vigorously, add exquisite harmonies and a mountain of fun to produce shows that excite, entertain and delight. Whilst the style of Cloudstreet has a traditional base, they present a lively and entertaining acoustic act which appeals to a wide range of people and ages. Their ancient ballads and traditional songs are made spell-binding by their daring and sublime vocal harmonies which create the impression of a “third voice”. The songs which they present are like chapters from fairytales, some dark and foreboding, some strange and funny and all performed with skill, grace and passion.

Cloudstreet have once before been the guests at Montrose Folk Club. The audience on that previous occasion remember an evening of laughter together with great music and song.

Everyone is welcome next Tuesday at Montrose Folk Club when Cloudstreet will be on-stage at 8.00 pm with the doors at the Links Hotel open at 7.30 pm.
