Table grateful for public’s support

MONTROSE Round Table raised more than £6,000 last year to help local charities and community projects and has extended its thanks to all who supported its events.

The funds were raised from the table’s Music Festival barbecue, Cricket Sixes and Ale Festival, the Donkey Derby barbecue and Santa’s Sleigh. Members have extended their thanks to all local people, businesses and organistions which have given their support.

John Williamson said: “We would like to wish all those in the town and surrounding area a successful 2013. In 2012 Montrose Round Table helped local clubs, charities and community groups by donating over £7,000 to good causes. These donations supported a range of projects and activities at the heart of the Montrose community. Most of the supplies we use for our events also come from local businesses and several events require the collaboration and services of other organisations from the town.”

The Round Table currently has around nine members and is keen for new blood to help with its activities and, aimed at men aged 18 to 45, meets once every two weeks in a social setting.

Mr Williamson added: “Our excuse for this is to generate local community spirit and funds in order give back to the local community. We do this by organising roughly four events a year and dividing up the jobs that need done between us. There are a few perks besides helping the community and an excuse to go to the pub as our products at events require rigorous ‘taste testing’. Our ales and burgers need to live up to expectation.”
