Tales of Para Handy

EDEN Court Theatre and Open Book Productions present Para Handy - a voyage round the stories of Neil Munro at His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen, next week.

Starring Jimmy Chisholm as Para Handy, this is a major new stage version of Munro’s Para Handy Tales.

Jimmy is one of the treasures of Scottish theatre and is easily one of the most recognised and respected actors in the country.

Loved by audiences across Scotland, he is as much a master of his craft as Para Handy is of the Vital Spark. His Highland roots make him the ideal choice to play Para Handy.

The irrepressible captain of The Vital Spark and his ramshackle crew have become some of Scotland’s best-loved characters since they first appeared in 1906.

This breathtaking 21st century take on the adventures of Para Handy, his mate Dougie, engineer Macphail and cabin-boy Sunny Jim travels from the Clydeside breakers yards to the lochs of the highlands.

With a foot-tapping live score, this modern Para Handy will be as engaging and entertaining in 2011 as the original stories were more than 100 years ago.

The show runs from Tuesday, September 27 to Saturday, October 1.
