The 2015 season in the Caird Hall Dundee got off to a rousing start with a performance by one of Britain’s most popular bands, the Kaiser Chiefs.
They will be followed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra on Thursday, February 12 with their ‘Latin Passion’ concert and a programme which included some of the greatest movie love themes ever composed.
This Sunday Maximum Dance will hold one of Scotland’s biggest street dance competition with divisions in solos, duets and crews for under sixes to over 18s.
Dance favourites Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag are in town with a dazzling new production for 2015, ‘That’s Entertainment’.

Join the UK’s favourite dance couple as they combine the sophisticated elegance of their quickstep, foxtrot, tango and waltz with the showbiz razzmatazz of hits and steps from stage and screen. The show will also feature a special guest appearance by Anton’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ partner - Judy Murray.
The show features classic hits ‘That’s Entertainment’, ‘True Love’, ‘Make ‘Em Laugh’, ‘Steppin’ Out with my Baby’ and ‘There’s No Business Like Show Business.’
The Scottish Ensemble will be in concert on Friday, February 20 with the Sax Serenade with Amy Dickson.
The young classical Brit-winning, chart-topping saxophonist joins the Scottish Ensemble in two powerful pieces for classical sax - Glazunov’s warmly lyrical yet sparklingly virtuosic Saxophone Concerto, and the profound spirituality of Georgian composer Giya Kanceli’s captivating ‘Night prayers’.
Susan Gillan, Caird Hall manager, writing in the season’s brochure, said: “The opening event of ‘Springfest’, a festival of music for Dundee, is the Organathon, the fun event by The Friends of the Caird Hall Organ, which this year will present guest choirs throughout the day.
“The programme of Springfest continues throughout March with a collaboration of a host of organisations both amateur and professional staging concerts for all.
“In April we welcome the return of Ellen Kent with her wonderful production of ‘Madama Butterfly’, a real tearjerker, and the popular comedian Dara O Briain with his new show ‘Crowd Tickler’.
