Thriving Hillside Scouts use grant

1st HILLSIDE Scout Group has greatly benefited from an Angus Community Council Grant

The recent Hillside Scarecrow Festival and subsequent 1st Hillside Scout Group camp saw the use of new equipment, largely funded by a grant from the scheme.

The award of £2,350 was used, along with the group’s own funds, to purchase two mess tents, large gas urns, gas burners and all the cooking equipment required to enable the group to independently and successfully cater for medium to large groups.

The equipment will also be available for similar groups to access as part of the funding requirements, and will be widely used by the Scout Group for camping as well as community events.

Meanwhile, work continues in the background to find a solution to the problem of the crumbling Hillside Scout Hut, which is thought to have very little useful life left in it.
