Tickets on sale for The Prom at Glamis

FOLLOWING the successful return of The Grand Scottish Prom in 2011, Glamis Castle is delighted to announce the formal partnership with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO), and to confirm the date for 2012.

Newly styled The Prom at Glamis, it will feature for the second year running Scotland’s leading orchestra and will take place on Saturday, August 11 2012, reverting to its traditional weekend. After 18 successful years under the stewardship of the late John Reid, and following two interim years, responsibility for the planning and production of the prom has gradually devolved to the Castle Administrator, David Broadfoot.

David said: “Previously, the Glamis team had little or no say in the running or marketing of the event but with partial control in 2011 and now full control in 2012 it has allowed us to connect with the audience and react to feedback received. Almost overwhelmingly, we received positive feedback on the new direction the prom took in 2011 and we are highly delighted with the RSNO partnership. The Trustees of the Estate, Lord Strathmore and all involved in the event production have decided to rebrand it The Prom at Glamis.

“Whilst this reflects greater scope to select a wider range of music we are eager to preserve the Prom’s traditional Scottish roots. Indeed, we are thrilled to announce that the RSNO will be supported by not just a piper or two but by an entire pipe band! We’re very much looking forward to announcing the full programme and guest artists in the New Year”. Tickets are on sale now from
